Company Director Prosecuted for Obtaining Goods Worth Sh 90 Million by False Pretense

A businessman was on Wednesday charged with Ksh.133.9 million fraud.

Haren Kumar Damji Mandavia, a director at Pole Star, is accused of fraudulently obtaining rice worth Ksh90.9 million and assorted building materials worth Ksh.43 million from different suppliers.

Appearing before Milimani Senior resident magistrate Christine Njagi, Kumar is alleged to have defrauded the assorted building materials from Avon Center Enterprises in Industrial area on diverse dates between 31st July 2017 and 12th September 2017.

Other revelations came out that the businessman is, in a another court, accused of defrauding Mahindra and Mahindra Limited on dates between 12th August and 15th October 2016, and seven other counts of obtaining money by false pretense and issuance of bad cheques.

He was released on a bond of Ksh.10 million or alternative cash bail of Ksh.6 million, with the case set to be mentioned in two weeks.
