Interior Permanent Secretary Karanja Kibicho faces arrest for failing to appear in court as had been ordered.

Judge George Odunga on Monday directed the Nairobi Central OCPD to arrest the PS and present him in court during the next hearing.

The orders were issued in an application filed by Mr Joshua Mutua, who wants the PS jailed for six months for failing to pay him over Sh300,000 awarded to him by the court for malicious prosecution and imprisonment.

“Accordingly, I direct the PS to appear before this court to show cause why he should not be committed to jail for contempt of court,” said Justice Odunga.

The judge said the Interior ministry and the Attorney-General have been dilly-dallying over the payment of the amount due, and it was time the court took action against the State offices.

The case will be heard on March 31.
