According to court documents, the accused whose wife is also a police officer, arrived home while heavily drunk.

Muriungi then picked up an argument with his wife which spiralled into a fight. An alarm was raised and neighbours rushed to the scene, rescuing the victim who was rushed to the hospital.

Upon medical examinations, it was discovered that Muriungi’s wife lost her three-month-old pregnancy. Doctors noted that the victim had been grievously injured.

The matter was reported at Langata police station and the accused person was arrested and taken in for questioning before he was arraigned in court.

The court ruled that the accused person shall be supplied with all the documents needed during trial.

Magistrate Tulel released the accused on Ksh20,000 cash bail and directed the matter to be mentioned on November 12.
