Career Timeline

David J. Caputo began his career as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable J. Curtis Joyner of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1996 to 1997.

From 1997 until 2002, attorney David Caputo joined Dechert, one of Philadelphia’s largest and most prestigious defense firms, working as an associate.

During his time working at Dechert, he notably represented The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News in libel cases.

In 2002, he joined Kline & Specter, the largest plaintiffs’ firm in Pennsylvania, where he began as an associate, eventually becoming a partner.

At the beginning of 2008, David Caputo began serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. During his time here, he notably was the prosecutor in US v Synthes et al. In this case, a major medical device manufacturer and a subsidiary were found in violation of the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act in connection with conducting an authorized clinical trial of bone cement.

He held this position until 2010 when he returned to work as a partner at his previous workplace (Kline & Specter).

While at Kline & Specter, he established the department of whistleblower law.

In January 2017, Mr Caputo left Kline & Specter and established Youman and Caputo, LLC.
