City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi is at the centre of a scandal in Wajir County.

The tender awarded to his firm, Ahmednasir Abdullahi  LLP Advocates for legal representation of Wajir County government was issued in disregard to procurement laws.

The county lost Sh25 million in sham legal fees to Ahmednasir Abdullahi’s firm.

‘An expensive legal contract awarded to a firm without pre-qualification to provide the said services to the county. The procedure should have involved sending requests for quotations to the prequalified firms. The evaluation committee would then award the services to the least/cheapest bidder. This did not happen and AA law firm was single sourced with inflated fee,’ a source that spoke to Mahakamani News on condition of anonymity said.

Mohamed Mohamud – Ousted Wajir County Governor. He was impeached in May 2021. Ahmed Ali Mukhtar replaced him.

Mahakamani News has learnt that if right procedures were followed, the contract would not have cost Wajir more than Sh5 million.

Money trail

The inflated contract was done so as to profit the county officials.

Sources told Mahakamani News that only 60 per cent of the money remained at the law firm bank account.

The remaining amount went to Kileleshwa as down payment for the construction of the governor Villa.

Impeachment and other factors

“Ahmednasir Abdullahi has been engaging in public relations because he knows his doublespeak will soon be exposed. He pretends to care about the development of North Eastern but he is the one aiding in the looting of the counties, a source told Mahakamani News.

AHMED ALI Muktar becomes the third governor of Wajir County after taking oath of office.
