Embattled Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa will be arraigned in Court on Monday to face fraud charges following his re-arrest.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives are said to be planning to prefer two charges against him.

Mwendwa who was re-arrested on Friday days after police failed to charge him will face charges of failing to account for 29.5 million shillings said to be missing from FKF accounts.

The second count will be 8.5 million shillings said to have been misappropriated. But even the defense team prepares for the Monday session, the embattled FKF boss is said not have recorded any statement, raising questions on what file will be used to arraign him.

The matters are complicated further by the disclosure by the Director of Public Prosecution that he has to date not received any file on Mwendwa’s case.

DCI officers arrested Nick Mwendwa Friday while he was driving along Kiambu Road and has since been in police custody….He was detained at Gigiri police station.

Mwendwa’s lawyer Eric Mutua in a letter addressed to the Inspector General of police protested what they termed as unlawful detention.

The letter said in part ” we shall hold you and all concerned officers individually and or personally liable for the false imprisonment, unlawful confinement, abuse of police powers, abuse of office and violation of his rights” end quote.

Mwendwa was rearrested just a day after the state failed to prefer charges against him. Milimani Magistrate Wandia Nyamu dismissed an application police sought to  hold Mwendwa for an additional seven days to enable them to conduct investigations.

The FKF President was first arrested on November 12th and released on a 4 million shillings.

Sports CS Amina Mohammed disbanded FKS on November 11th and constituted a caretaker committee to run football affairs in the country for a period of 6 months as probe commenced into the allegations of misappropriation of money at the Federation
