Two suspects, Wallace Mugendi and Kenneth Mukundi were arrested on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Crane hospital along Lumumba drive in Kasarani, Nairobi County for administering fake Covid-19 vaccines to Kenyans.

Court documents indicate, the two also impersonated a medical doctor and administered what was believed to be fake Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 jab to unsuspecting clients.

The illegal and fake Covid-19 vaccination occurred on diverse dates between the month of July and August 2021 and reported on September 7, 2021,”

Corporal Kapario Lekakeny, the investigating officer from Kasarani Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) requested the court detained them for five days to complete the case of personation.

Milimani Law Court Senior Principal Synkian Tobiko directed the suspects to be detained at Kasarani Police station until September 13, 2021, when they will be required to appear before the court.

In June, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe warned Kenyans against receiving the Covid-19 vaccine from unauthorized facilities, especially those that claim to offer Covid-19 certificates.

Kagwe noted that some hospitals might be vaccinating people with water and making them pay for it.

The DCI has moved in some facilities that have been illegally vaccinating people for Covid-19 and charging them for that vaccination and I would like to tell Kenyans that such exercises that are going are illegal.
